The following is all you need to know about rummy:

  • Melds.
  • Game Play.

Sequence: A sequence is when you have three or more cards of the same suite, and these cards must be in consecutive order. For example, if you have 3,4 and 5 of hearts then it is a sequence.

Set: A set is when you have cards of the same value but of different suits. A set can also be of three or four cards.

Game Play:

Rummy can be played with 2 to 4 players. Depending on the number of players in the game you need to deal the cards to each player. Once the cards are dealt with every player the remaining deck of cards is kept on the table, and one card kept the face up next to the deck. The player who is sitting on the left of the dealer needs to start the game.

When you get your turn, you need to take a card from the deck, or if you happen to need a card from the discarded pile, then you are allowed to pick the card on top of the discarded pile. If you have a meld, then you are allowed to place them on the table. The game continues till a player loses all the cards by forming proper melds. If you have only one card in the end, then you can discard it in the discarded pile. But if you have taken that last card from the discarded pile then you cannot discard that card into the pile at the current round. You need to wait for the next round for you to discard it in a pile.
